Miracle of Motherhood
By Paul Roche*
She had an unspoiled charm and simplicity
of grace
A laughter in her voice, and warmth on her face,
And a song in her soul that adversity couldn't still,
A kindness in thought that showed a benevolent will.
A passion for rectitude made her
at times stern,
Its spiritual import only later did we learn,
Selfless and helpful towards all those in need,
Showing mercy and kindness in thought and in deed.
A bright star that shone in our darkest
days,
Like a sunflower turning towards our distant ways,
She personified duty to God, family and friends,
One in a million that heaven selectively sends.
We could not have asked for a dearer
mother--
She enveloped us in a hug that holds us together;
Stamped indelible in our hearts and our minds,
We carry her eternal memory, and her unity that binds.
The power of love, beyond boundaries,
beyond cost,
Lessons we have learnt, never again to be lost:
From generation to generation, in ever grateful waves,
Treasuring them eternally, a humble prayer that saves.
Your legacy's gift to us will seldom
ever cease,
After a life of toil, Mother, May you Rest in Peace.
